France is composed of 101 departments and 13 regions. There are 67 millions inhabitants in 2019 spread over 643 801 square kilometers. There are also DROM and COM (French overseasterritories) as for example Guyana, Mayotte, Reunion, Guadalupe and Martinique, spread across the world, France thus has a territory in all the continents.

The biggest french cities are Paris, Lyon, Marseille, Toulouse, Lille, Bordeaux, Nantes and Rennes. Paris is a metropolis of 2.2 millions inhabitants and France capital, known for its Eiffel Tower and triumphal arch.
The five french rivers are : the Loire, the Garonne, the Rhône, the Seine and the Rhin. The Loire is the longest french river. The real longest river is the Rhin but a major part isn’t in France but in Germany and in Austria. The most popular is the Seine because, it’s the river which flow through Paris.
France has many coasts. It is bordered by the Mediterranean Sea at the South, Atlantic Ocean at the West and English Channel at the North. Here in Brittany, we often go to the beach, Lannion located on the North Brittany Coast just near the sea.
France is known for its mountainous massifs. The Alps and the Pyrenees are the most famous, but there are also the central massifs, Jura, Vosges. The Alps culminate at 4,809 meters, on top of Mont Blanc, is the highest French summit. France has many ski resorts, as for example La Plagne, Val Thorens, Alpes d’Huez for the most famous.
The french climate is temperate. In Brittany, the oceanic climate equivalent to a heavy rainfall and mild temperature from -5 degrees winter to 30 degrees summer. In the France south, the climate is warmer in the summer.
